Well by now you’ll no doubt be enjoying Squad Conquest, and if you’re not, why not? Its a fast paced, shrunk down version of conquest and provides a quick fix of Battlefield when you need it but thats not the only new addition in the ‘Lightning Strikes’ update..
Having rolled out on January 17th Squad Conquest will be available until the 30th as DICE introduce new, and also bring back some fan favourite multiplayer modes. Replacing Squad Conquest in March is Rush. Rush was a very popular mode in Battlefield 3 and 4 and returned for Battlefield 1 but sadly not in Battlefield V. Thankfully DICE will add it as a time limited game option on the Twisted Steel, Narvik, and Devastation maps as they gauge the popularity of different modes but if they are popular then DICE say they will add them permanently.
The Lightning Strikes update also brings us a new Grand Operation called Battle of Hannut. This operation takes place across the new Panzerstorm map and Arras. You’ll play the usual Airbourne and Breakthrough modes but also Rush mode and a mode called Final Stand where you don’t get to respawn.
DICE are adding a new co-op mode called ‘Combined Arms’ in February. There are not too many details at the moment apart from telling us that the first endeavour in Combined Arms will involve a surgical strike across eight missions.
One of the fun additions to Battlefield V is the chapter rank system Each week players get a set of objectives such as play x amount of games in a certain mode or get a certain amount of captures/kills etc. Completing these missions unlocks rewards which so far have been weapons although in Lightning Strikes some of the upcoming rewards are headgear and clothing. Its been a fun way to earn XP and unlock some good weapons such as the
Zk-383 submachine gun which has now made the medic class a viable option in our humble opinion.
If you’ve not managed to complete all the missions to unlock items then don’t worry, you can use Company Coin to buy all Chapter 1 items.
Its good to see DICE trying new things with BF V and also bringing back things that worked well before, what are your thoughts? let us know in the comments below.
